Lord Leverhulme Charitable Trust Scholarships

Two students have received Lord Leverhulme Scholarships at Harper Adams University. 

Sam Green , 21, from Preston, Lancashire and Sam Cole, 20, from Heswall, Merseyside, each received £1,500. 

Sam Green is a final year BSc (Hons) Agri-food with Marketing and Business Studies student. He said: “The scholarship will allow me to complete my final year more comfortably. I need to make best use of all the resources and courses Harper Adams has to offer.

It will allow me to make the most out of these opportunities and ultimately make me more employable as a graduate. Joining the Chartered Management Institute, taking advanced French lessons and a PA6 spraying qualification will all help me do that; the sponsors make it all possible!

“Being awarded scholarships is such a fantastic feeling. It makes all the hard work I have put in throughout Harper Adams and on placement worthwhile. It’s nice to know that you’re on the right track and that there are people out there that are willing to help you on your way.”

Sam spent his placement year in France, with machinery manufacturer Kuhn, and hopes to graduate this summer with a first-class honours degree.

Sam Cole is a second year Rural Enterprise and Land Management (REALM) student. He said: “I grew up down the road from the Lord Leverhulme Estate on the Wirral, so it was a familiar name when I applied for the award. I feel very honoured and privileged to have been successful. The award will assist me towards my goal of qualifying as a rural chartered surveyor.”
